What a unique city! Thank you Lucille, Joan and Kirk. We had a wonderful time. The Admiral Fitzroy Inn was very comfortable. It is located on Thames Street, right in the heart of the city. We could walk almost everywhere.
We took the Newport Trolley for a Scenic Overview Tour of the city. We saw many mansions where the wealthy used to "summer".
On Saturday evening, we toured the "Breakers" Mansion and engaged in their Christmas Festivities. It was absolutely breathtaking. The Breakers overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and is named for the waves crashing into the rocks below the 13 acre estate. The "Sweet Adelines" entertained us and the Preservation Society, who now owns the estate, served us refreshments. We're standing in front of a large poinsettia tree in the Grand Ballroom.
